HYBRID DRY SUMP SYSTEM
FOR
924s - 944 - 951
WITH 2.5l MOTORS

The idea is to use the stock pick-up as the scavenge, remove the internal ring gear of the oil pump (leaving the sleeve on the crank) and replace it with an external dry sump pump driven off the belt in the location where the AC compressor was.

The Following is the basic layout of the system

Oil  cooler from 2nd Jen (86-91) Mazda RX-7.
I am looking at installing it as a front
mounted cooler for my 924s
Note the size of this cooler.  It was designed
to provide 30% of the cooling for the RX-7.
I am the only issue I have is fitment.
Getting it up in front of the radiator is going
to be a challenge.  This will be an interracial
part of my hybrid Dry-sump system
This is a photo of the block where the 951 oil
filter mounting plate is bolted. By using the
951 plate you eliminate the internal oil cooler
there for you will need to mimic the 951's
remote / front mounted cooler.  I plan on
using the oil cooler shown above from a
2nd Jen RX-7
951 oil filter mounting plate looking
at the side that mounts to the
engine block
Trial fit of the 951 plate to the NA block
indicates that there is a fitment problem
with the oil pressure regulator.
Oil Pump Showing Center Ring that will
remain and the gear that will be removed
so oil can flow through the pump.  The inner
sleeve will be retained to allow for the bolt
on the end of the crank to be torqued
up properly.

This is a comparison of the oil pressure relief valve hole in the block.
