UPDATE
03-25-05

Stephen was put in NICU in Mass General Hospital In Boston

We have been told that he has Pneumonia in his left lung,  He has had assistance breathing and been sedated to allow him to rest.  This morning we were told that although he is still a very sick little boy there has been a small amount of improvement in his condition.

To all those that have been praying for him we thank you.  Please keep the prayers coming as we can use all the help we can get.

Your prayers are greatly appreciated
Dean & Belinda

UPDATE
03-27-05

Stephen most likely has Pneumonia in his left lung.  It is complicated with blood pressure problems probably associated with the Pneumonia.  However he continues to make very small steps forward.  Some of the medications are being reduced as well as the amount of assistance he is receiving from the ventilator. The following photo may be disturbing to some but it shows  improvement since he was first admitted to NICU.

UPDATE
04-01-05

Stephen is getting better slowly.  It was probably not Pneumonia as all his cultures to date have come back clear.  He has been taken off antibiotics and the respirator.  He is on only one med and is only receiving oxygen.  Stephen is awake. He likes to listen to mom and Kamille sing "Winnie The Pooh" songs.
Here is a photo of him today

UPDATE
04-03-05

Stephen has been moved from the critical care section of NICU to the "nursery"  section of the NICU .  He is getting better slowly.  He is still being monitored and is getting O2 as well as some other meds but we are now able to hold him

UPDATE
04-05-03

Sorry for the lack of Pictures today but I left the camera at home.  BUT Stephen is making great progress.  He is off oxygen (the little tube in the photo above has been removed) and is only on one medication.  We now have to teach him to eat properly but that is just a matter of time and getting him used to Mom and the bottle.

Lastly all your emails and thoughts are greatly appreciated.  I may not be responding to all of you but Belinda and I read them all!!!!!  Many thanks.

UPDATE
04-06-07

Stephen is doing better.  Not much has changed from my last update The only tube he has in place now is  a feeding tub and that is due to him still having to learn how to eat.

UPDATE
04-08-05

All the tubes are out!!!!  Stephen has is now eating like he should and is doing very well.  All we are waiting for now is to wean him from the DTO.  Here are some photos of him today.  He is looking and acting like a normal little baby.

UPDATE
04-09-05

Stephen Continues to wean from the DTO He continues to eat well.  Stephen, or as Kamille now calls him "Stepho" (Thank you Liz!!!), has a little Jaundice but it continues to get better. Here are a couple of Photos from today.

UPDATE
04-10-05

We are still waiting on transport from MGH NICU back to Emerson.  When space and prioritization allows he will be moved to continue his weaning form the DTO.  Here is a photo from today after his bath and feeding.

UPDATE
04-11-05

Well Today there was a first we were serenaded by a live harpsichordist and it was great!!!  Just what we needed.  I know it sounds kind of strange but it was great very peaceful and calming and that is what you need in the NICU.   I hope that it occurs again.  Here is a photo to prove it.

Stephen is doing well he continues to improve.  The jaundice continues to get better.  While we were there an ultrasound was performed and nothing was found to be out of the ordinary.  Here are some photos from today.  As you can see Stephen was  awake and looking around but went to sleep after feeding.

 UPDATE
04-12-05

Stephen continues on a slow and steady course to coming home.  The DTO continues to be reduced and he is eating very well.  The jaundice appears to be getting better. His eyes looked much clearer today.  Stephen likes his swing seat as well as being held and carried by the nurses in the NICU.  There is not much new today other than he was awake when I visited him and after feeding him he went back to sleep, sound asleep.

UPDATE
04-13-05 & 04-15-05

Things have been slow and steady.  We got the word that Stephen may be coming home the first part of next week.  This would be great!!!!  Here are a bunch of photos from the last couple of days.  We had a little scare as a blood clot was found but we were told that it is not obstructing anything and they feel that it will go away on its own.  We will re visit it in a week to be sure.

UPDATE 04-17-05

Stephen was Moved from MGH to Emerson yesterday!!!!!    He is doing better each day.  We are still working on weaning him from the DTO but he continues to make progress.  Sorry no photo s today I was putting together a swing for him that matches the one he had at MGH.  Stepho Likes his swing!!!!

UPDATE 04-18-05 & 04-20-05

Things age moving along very well.  In the last couple of days Stephen is looking very well.  Today he was awake and alert.  He loves his swing (just like the one he had in the NICU at MGH).  The jaundice is almost gone.  Another Ultra sound was performed and the clot has disappeared as predicted. I got photos from the 18th and today take a look at today the little guy is looking at everything. As for when he is coming home that has been discussed a little and Friday was mentioned but realistically I think it will be next week at the earliest.
